The Coming Economic Collapse Will Test You to the Core of Your Being

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist or prophet to see that economic troubles are coming soon to America and much of the world. Many economists and investment experts are warning us that extremely hard times are coming soon and that we need to prepare as best we can. The wild spending by government driven by a false climate change motive is about to send the United States and much of the rest of the world into a financial tailspin that is going to reach the lives of all of us who depend on government doing the right thing.

Unfortunately, the government doesn’t always do the right thing and is often driven by political concerns rather than the wellbeing of its citizens. Several serious wrong decisions are leading toward a disaster like none we have ever faced. My main question is aimed at those who call themselves followers of Christ. How will you handle this coming disaster and will your response be guided by the Holy Spirit or by your natural impulses?

Plain common sense tells us that this collapse is coming. Our government seems to be turning a blind eye toward the destruction we have witnessed in our big cities. Many businesses were burned to the ground and most have not recovered leading to a growing shortages of commodities.

President Biden within days of being elected ordered the shutdown of the Keystone XL pipeline which brings oil from Canada through center of the U.S. all the way to Texas. He blocked a proposal to open up more than a million acres of land in Alaska for oil and gas drilling and he blocked plans to expand an oil refinery in the Virgin Islands.

He has discouraged the industry from investing in more production. The result is further depletion of oil and higher gas prices for consumers. He has failed to invoke the National Defense Act to increase the rate of oil and gas permits. He failed to set up trade agreements with our Allies to supply them with liquefied natural gas which would increase gas production and lower prices.

Early in the Russian war with Ukraine a compromise could have been reached. If Ukraine had simply agreed to not joining NATO Russia promised to pull out troops and end the war. The UK and other nations rejected the proposal and the war continued giving Biden and others another excuse for recession and potential economic collapse.

So the national average gas price is $4.09 per gallon. We laugh at that in California where our average is $6.42 per gallon as of October 6. Add to that there is a growing shortage of diesel fuel which could cause a supply chain collapse in the coming winter. We’re talking gas and diesel shortages, food shortages and scarcities of just about everything that is transported in the country.

The political left pushes to defund the police in its cities thinking that incarcerations are the problem rather than defunding the police and a spike in crime activity encouraged by pro-crime prosecutors in blue cities across the nation. The violence in our streets and businesses is causing retailers to lose money and in many cases go out to business. Covid was a big problem but the violence that ensued in Democratic controlled cities hurt the economy immensely.

Open borders are hurting the economy as low paying jobs are being taken by illegal immigrants, part of the 1.7 million border crossings in 2021 and is expected to hit 2.1 million this year. A country’s economy cannot sustain that kind of immigration disorder. The deadly drug Fentanyl is being smuggled across the border causing thousands of deaths. The Center for Disease Control estimates that 108 thousand deaths can be attributed to synthetic drugs between February 2021 and February 2022. Wages for the average American worker have fallen by nearly $3,000 since Biden took office in January 2021. Almost everything we buy is costing us more.

Meanwhile the Biden administration’s actions have caused inflation to rise to 8.5% in July, the highest since 1981. Prices on items such as gas, groceries, and household essentials, have risen since Biden signed his $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act spending bill in March, 2021.

We now have an unprecedented worker shortage, with about 755,000 fewer people employed today than at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, despite a 4.2 million increase in available workers. Wages for the average American have fallen and show no signs of increase.

Homelessness is on the rise in virtually every big city in the country and rampant crime is on the rise. Violent crime rates are up across the county: Seattle up 23%, L.A. up 6.7 %, Chicago up 35%, D.C. up 21 %, Philadelphia up 15 %, Baltimore up 8%, NYC up 40%, and that is just a short listing of big cities across the country where violent crime is exploding. I wonder if defunding police, firing police officers for not being vaccinated, a police slowdown due to media blaming them in arrests, prosecutors not prosecuting, $0 bail policies, and other progressive tactics have contributed to this rise.

So, yes my friends, get ready for a corrective collapse in this country. The coming collapse will be due to the spiritual, moral, family, political, and judicial breakdown of the fabric of this once great nation. Hopefully, with the help of sensible voters, this collapse will be corrective in that it will begin a healing process instead of throwing acid into the wounds of Americans. We are at another serious change point in our country.

The direction of the change is up to you. How will you handle this collapse? Will you scream and cry and blame anyone and everyone for your loss of savings and for the freefall your investments are taking? Will you get caught up in remorse for the wrong decisions you made and for not preparing even though we all saw this coming? Will you be defeated by what looks like a fizzling out of the American dream and the rise of socialism? Will you regret not having a support group of believers who love you and commit to help you rise?

Or will you behave like the early Christians who, in the midst of persecution, sold what they had and contributed to helping the needy around them (Acts 4:32–37)? Will you rise up to help those in trouble sharing what you have and not begrudging others for their actions? Will you hoard those supplies you saved for you and yours or will you share with others in need as the Lord directs? Will you allow the miracle of the fishes and the loaves or will you settle for the failure of a broken economy? Will you learn that what God has given you belongs to all of His children?

While there is time you need to find the saints of God and begin to fellowship with them. Get to know them. Realize that the body of Christ, the church, is the foundation of truth and it is there that you will join with others who will uphold you when the trouble comes. In turn, they will uphold you because in Christ we are one.

Collapse is coming! Expect it and prepare for it. Realize that man’s weak strategies will not work in this time of failure. A time of testing is coming. It is time to learn the ways of God. His grace is sufficient and He perfects power in the midst of weakness (2 Cor. 12:9). He does His best work when we can consider it joy when the trials come knowing that the testing produces endurance that we can allow to produce God’s best in our lives (James :1–4).

If you are an American, you have probably become spoiled spiritually. You have need of testing so that you can abandon your childish behavior and grow up into Christ. Your chance is coming. It’s right around the corner. Get ready.
